Steve Shurack -- Rock, Jazz, Blues, Classical, Latin, Slide Guitar, Folk, County, Bass Guitar, Mandolin, Banjo, Ukulele

BMS Director, Steve has been teaching guitar and electric bass and performing full time since 1972. While his degree is in Classical Guitar Performance and Composition, he has played rock, blues, and folk since the 60’s and jazz since the 70’s and has toured the world performing. He founded Broadway Music School in 2005 to share his love of music and to promote music education in the community. He loves teaching players of all ages and abilities, and specializes in helping players who experience pain or technical problems in their playing. He is also a visiting artist at Denver School of the Arts, where he was instrumental in starting the guitar major program. Steve is a band leader and owns and manages Sure Thing Entertainment and is endorsed by Godin Guitars and Sfarzo String Company.

Andrew Adams -- Opera, Lieder, Choral Director, Cabaret & Broadway, 

Music Theater

Andrew Adams has taught privately in the New York and Denver metro areas since 2000. Mr. Adams’ vocal instruction is breath-centered, and is focused on discovering and developing the unique features of a student’s voice, working to build a technique that serves the student’s artistry. His students are at work in opera and musical theater throughout the country. With the Los Angeles Master Chorale and the Westminster Choir, he performed frequently with the New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Vienna Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic and others under Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Carlo Maria Giulini, Kurt Masur, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Robert Shaw, Joseph Flummerfelt, and Roger Wagner. Andrew holds degrees from New York’s Wagner College graduate degrees from Westminster Choir College (Princeton, NJ). and He is a published composer/arranger.

David Wohl -- Pop, Jazz, Classical and Improvisation

David has been giving private piano instruction and teaching composition, music theory, improvisation, music history for more than 25 years. He has a Bachelor, Master and Doctorate Degree in Music and is an Assistant Professor at Colorado State University. David has provided musical direction and keyboards for numerous musicals, corporate events, cabarets, and other venues-- regionally and nationally. He is also an award-winning composer for TV, film, multimedia, and theater: 9 ASCAP Awards; Moondance Festival Best Film Score; 2 Emmy-winning series; Director’s Choice Award-winning Uncle Jed’s Barbershop; and, The 1940s Radio Christmas Carol.

Michael has been a professional musician and instructor since 1992. He has been playing guitar for more than 30 years and the bagpipes since 1987. He has a B.S. in Music from the University of Colorado at Denver where he currently teaches music. Michael is also a founding member of the Centennial State Pipe Band. As a guitarist, Michael plays and teaches most all styles, including pop, jazz, rock, blues, classical, Spanish, Celtic, and new age. He specializes in finger-style, classical and contemporary guitar.

Nick is an accomplished guitarist and dedicated teacher. His education includes a Bachelor and Masters Degree in Guitar Performance, and he is certified in the Suzuki method for early childhood training. Nicolas has over fifteen years experience as a guitar teacher, teaching guitar privately, in groups, and in the classroom. Nicolas loves teaching students of every age and every level, and in recent years he has developed a special interest in teaching younger beginners.

John Kuzmich, Jr -- Trumpet, Trombone, Sax, Clarinet, Flute, Ensembles, Theory & Improv

John has 43 years of public school teaching experience with specialties in jazz education, music technology and in videoconferencing instruction equally competent on all the woodwind and brass instruments.  One of John’s unique talents is to personally place his students in colleges with music scholarships. His academic background also includes a Ph.D. in comprehensive musicianship. As a freelance author, he has more than 600 nationally published articles and five textbooks to his credits. As a clinician, Dr. Kuzmich frequently participates in workshops throughout the U.S., Europe, Australia, and South America.
